We're thrilled to announce that the National Film Centre has granted funding for the production of our film "Secrets of the Great Bog".
The book "Roņpils. The Story of a Swamp" came out in 2020. Soon after that, we started working on a film script in the hope that, inspired by the book, it would one day become a film.
Now we also need to convince film financiers in several other countries so that we can join the twin sisters Tīne and Bīne and their invisible friend Juhan on their adventures in the Bogworld.

From 16th to 20th February, our producers, Līga Gaisa and Antra Gaile, attended the European Film Market in Berlin to find partners for the studio's feature films in development, the family film Secrets of the Great Bog and the vampire comedy Superheroine on the Wrong Side of Forty, as well as for the drama series The Perfectionist about the effects of emotional trauma.
The attendance of the EFM was co-funded by the European Union’s Single Market Programme.

Hooray for us! Our fiction short "Confessions of My Childhood Body" won the Best Student Film Award at the National Film Awards yesterday, 4 February. The film's director Emīlija Karetņikova also received the FIPRESCI Latvia Award.
The film is supported by the Culture Capital Foundation; the general sponsor is the DEPO chain of stores.

We're thrilled to announce that the nominations for the Latvian National Film Award "Lielais Kristaps" have been announced, and we're incredibly proud to announce that two of our films, "Sisters in Longing" and "Confessions of My Childhood Body" have been nominated in the following categories:
The documentary "Sisters in Longing", which we produced in collaboration with the New Riga Theatre, has been nominated for Best Feature Length Documentary, and the director Elita Kļaviņa has been nominated for Best Documentary Director. In addition, the cinematographer of Sisters in Longing, Baiba Kļava, has been recognised with a nomination for Best Documentary DoP.
The fiction short "Confessions of My Childhood Body", which we produced in collaboration with the Latvian Academy of Culture, has been nominated for Best Student Film. In addition, the duo of director Emīlija Karetnikova and writer-producer Līga Gaisa have been nominated for Best Screenplay and the sound director Pēteris Pāss has been nominated for Best Sound.

We're thrilled and delighted to announce that we have secured development funding for our two feature films in development from the Creative Europe MEDIA Mini-Slate programme. These films are the family film Secrets of the Great Bog, written by Līga Gaisa and based on a story by Dāvids Vikmanis, to be directed by award-winning director Linda Olte, and the middle-aged vampire comedy Superheronine on the Wrong Side of Forty, to be directed by another award-winning director, Dace Pūce, with the script developed from an idea by Aiva Birbele.

Yesterday, in a warm atmosphere, we celebrated the national premiere of our short film "Confessions of My Childhood Body" (Mana bērnības ķermeņa atzīšanās) at the K.Suns cinema, followed by a discussion on "The Face of Grooming and Mechanisms of Its Detection and Prevention".
"Confessions of My Childhood Body" tells the story of an insecure 17-year-old who goes to a summer camp where she spends the best moments of her youth: the friendly attitude of one of the adults makes her feel accepted. But not all offers of friendship are innocent.
The film is a collaboration between "Air Productions" and the Latvian Academy of Culture, and was financed by the general sponsor, the DEPO chain of stores, and the Culture Capital Foundation of Latvia.

We're delighted that our writer-producer Līga Gaisa has been selected to participate in SERIES' WOMEN, the first career development programme for female producers in the European drama series industry organized by Erich Pommer Institut.
The third edition of SERIES' WOMEN will take place from November 2023 to April 2024. The producers will participate in state-of-the-art training opportunities addressing topics such as visibility, leadership and digital entrepreneurship as well as receive curated 1-1 mentoring and pitching coaching. Networking opportunities at TV Drama Vision (Gothenburg, Sweden) and Series Mania Forum (Lille, France) and direct access to decision makers and top industry players will complete the program.

World premiere!
The documentary short film "Come Out And Play" directed by Žaklīne Zābere-Gāga will have its premiere on 10 November at 7 pm in the beautiful cinema "Splendid Palace". The film will premiere as part of Latvian Television's "Latvian Code. Latvia Today" and will be aired on LTV1 on 23 November at 7:30pm.
The film is a fascinating story of true friendship, creativity and the passing of childhood.

We're delighted to announce that our vampire comedy with the working title Superheroine on the Wrong Side of Forty (Divi jauni zobi in Latvian) has received development funding from the National Film Centre of Latvia.
The script is being developed by Aiva Birbele who has received a creative grant from the State Culture Capital Foundation, with support from Līga Gaisa.

We are pleased to announce that Air Productions is part of the international film project Dance Plus City.
Dance Plus City is a series of eight short films to be shot in four countries (two films in each country) - Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine - fusing architectural spaces with the movements of contemporary dancers.
This month, Dance Plus City begins its production phase with two films by Latvian directors - Valērijs Olehno with cinematographer Aigars Sērmukšs and London-based dancer and choreographer Darius Algis Stankevičius (Lithuania) will shoot their film at the Vilnius Drama Theatre in Lithuania, while Rūta Ronja Pakalne with cinematographer Alis Mäesalu (Estonia) and dancer Johhan Rosenberg (Estonia) will shoot their film at House 61 in Jūrmala, Latvia.
The production of the two short films is supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation of Latvia.

From 4th to 6th October our producer Antra Gaile and writer-producer Līga Gaisa attended the Young Horizons Industry, an annual international co-production forum (formerly Kids Kino Industry) attenmded by more than 300 distributors, sales agents, broadcasters, platforms, festivals, film funds, investors, producers and creators aimed at supporting and promoting film and series development for young audiences. At the forum Līga and Antra had meetings with potential partners for the studio's project in development, 'Secrets of the Great Bog'.
The participation of Young Horizons Industry was co-funded by the European Union's Single Market Programme.

We're excited to announce that the National Film Centre of Latvia has granted Air Productions, in collaboration with PomPom Film from Croatia, Objektif from Slovakia and Senca Studio from Slonevia, a minority co-production grant for the family film, "Spacehead". The Latvian side will provide the music for the film, and we're thrilled to have the young and talented composer Līva Blūma onboard as the film's composer.
"Spacehead" is a heartwarming story about Alice and her autistic older brother, nicknamed Spacehead, who move to a village house to protect him from prejudice. When their parents disappear mysteriously, Alice must seek help from the children in the neighborhood to find and save them. Spacehead, who can't be left alone, joins in, and the children are confronted with his otherness, leading to a gradual change in all of them as they journey together.

Until 30 April, we are continuing the crowdfunding campaign for the short film 'Confessions of My Childhood Body,' which we are producing together with the Latvian Academy of Culture.

Based on true events about grooming, the film tells the story of a 17-year-old girl who goes to a summer camp but struggles to fit in with the other campers. When one of the adult group leaders notices her and befriends her, she feels grateful for the attention. However, she soon discovers that the seemingly innocent emotional bond and expression of friendship is just a method for the group leader to satisfy his own desires.
The film is the graduation film of director Emilija Karetnikova and Santa Helena Pedele.

We're excited to share that Antra Gaile, our partner-producer at the studio, has co-produced a powerful feature documentary called 'Before the Light' (directed by Kristīne Briede) together with Ieva Ūbele, under the Rucka Art Fund. At last night's National Film Award ceremony, 'Before the Light' received a Special Mention from the Jury.
Through subtle, unobtrusive and visually compelling storytelling, 'Before the Light' raises thought-provoking questions and sheds light on a topic that deserves greater attention: why women in the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church can only serve under the supervision of a man.

The fourth edition of the Female Filmmakers Festival Berlin will take place from October 5-9, 2022, in Berlin. The festival was created to support up-and-coming female talents from different ethnic backgrounds and nationalities, who have unique stories to tell.

The New Riga Theatre opens its new season with an unprecedented event, Es atgriežos no tālienes/I'm coming back from afar, a project that combines theatre and cinema languages joined by the director and actress Elita Kļaviņa to speak about woman’s pain, grief, hopes, and the power to live.
In the first part of the event, the play Je reviens de loin by the French playwright, author of novels and children’s books, Claudine Galea, Elita Kļaviņa will debut as a theatre director. During the second part of the event - Elita Kļaviņa’s latest documentary film Sisters in Longing will be screened.
Premiere on September 9 at 18:30.
