SPACEHEAD PITCH 14 (1).jpg

We're excited to announce that the National Film Centre of Latvia has granted Air Productions, in collaboration with PomPom Film from Croatia, Objektif from Slovakia and Senca Studio from Slonevia, a minority co-production grant for the family film, "Spacehead". The Latvian side will provide the music for the film, and we're thrilled to have the young and talented composer Līva Blūma onboard as the film's composer.

"Spacehead" is a heartwarming story about Alice and her autistic older brother, nicknamed Spacehead, who move to a village house to protect him from prejudice. When their parents disappear mysteriously, Alice must seek help from the children in the neighborhood to find and save them. Spacehead, who can't be left alone, joins in, and the children are confronted with his otherness, leading to a gradual change in all of them as they journey together.

Until 30 April, we are continuing the crowdfunding campaign for the short film 'Confessions of My Childhood Body,' which we are producing together with the Latvian Academy of Culture.

More information about the film and how to donate can be found here: https://igg.me/at/kermenaatzisanas.

Based on true events about grooming, the film tells the story of a 17-year-old girl who goes to a summer camp but struggles to fit in with the other campers. When one of the adult group leaders notices her and befriends her, she feels grateful for the attention. However, she soon discovers that the seemingly innocent emotional bond and expression of friendship is just a method for the group leader to satisfy his own desires.

The film is the graduation film of director Emilija Karetnikova and Santa Helena Pedele.

We're excited to share that Antra Gaile, our partner-producer at the studio, has co-produced a powerful feature documentary called 'Before the Light' (directed by Kristīne Briede) together with Ieva Ūbele, under the Rucka Art Fund. At last night's National Film Award ceremony, 'Before the Light' received a Special Mention from the Jury.

Through subtle, unobtrusive and visually compelling storytelling, 'Before the Light' raises thought-provoking questions and sheds light on a topic that deserves greater attention: why women in the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church can only serve under the supervision of a man.
