SISTERS IN LONGING

dir. Elita Kļaviņa, documentary, 60', 2022

They are bonded by their pain, longing, and their current residence – a semi-open prison for women. While staging Anton Chekhov’s play, Three Sisters, together with professional actors, the imprisoned women reveal their harrowing life stories, dreams, and the longing for a decent life outside the prison walls.

THE SWAN MAIDEN

Three swans land in a lake in the woods and transform into young women. A woodcutter spies on them and steals the clothing of the youngest one. The two older ones put on their clothes and fly away, while the youngest falls in love with the woodcutter and follows him to his home. She becomes his wife and the mother of their child, but will her love be strong enough to keep them together when she rediscovers her wings and is tempted to return to the air?

An intimate portrait of a young woman and her partner who live in a remote countryside and face the hardships of parenthood at the tender age of seventeen.
